A recital of solo voices and period instruments focussing on the rich vein of solo vocal music composed in 17th century Italy. During the 17th century composers such as Cesti and Carrissimi perfected the dramatic cantata in spectacular style. The fiery compositions of Italy's supreme singer composers crystallised the bel canto style which was to inspire composers throughout Europe.
