The Age Of Enlightenment
The summer concert is in a unique underground venue - the Grand Entrance Hall of the Thames Tunnel at Rotherhithe.
When the Tunnel was opened in 1843, it was the eighth wonder of the world - the first tunnel anywhere in the world to run beneath a river. The Brunel Museum installed a new staircase into the Entrance Hall last year, making it accessible to the public for the first time in 145 years.
The Hall has the acoustic of a cathedral and the Choir will be singing music - appropriately on the theme of rivers - by Victoria, Scarlatti, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Britten.
The concert will also include the première of 'I Am the Ghost of Shadwell Stairs', the third piece commissioned by the Choir from award-winning composer Alexander Campkin.
