Miles Davis - Impressionism
This is a live session dedicated to the period of time when the music of Miles Davis was in transition, the period after a Kind of Blue, and before Bitches Brew, when Davis began moving away from syncopation and swing toward textural sound and melodic mood.
The time when he began altering the established roles of the jazz instruments, and simplifying their melodic layer to a limit of pure ambience, when his music drew inspiration from Debussy and Ravel’s impressionism, and his format evolved towards a long, monolithic jam on a stream of consciousness.
These jazz players will play a selection of numbers from In a Silent Way, Filles de Kilimanjaro and Miles in the Sky as well as original new material written by Byron.
