Secrets

It is June 1969. America is trapped in a futile war in Vietnam, whilst preparing for Man's greatest achievement of setting foot on the surface of the Moon. A huge anti-war and nuclear disarmament movement is flourishing against a backdrop of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.

The shockwaves of this new dawn of free love and free speech are being felt across the World and have finally reached St Ursula's Catholic Girls' School, a private school run by Katherine O’Donovan and her long-time friend, Father Michael.

Katherine is struggling to maintain a high moral code for the girls in their final year, which include her long-suffering daughter Esther, mercilessly bullied for her relationship to the Headmistress and her relationship with Alfie, the gardener and the school's only available male. And when the school runs into severe financial difficulties, Katherine turns to old school friend and entrepreneur Nicholas Felix.

Nick inspires the girls to think about their place in the World, their impending futures and forces everybody to be honest with themselves and those around them. Amidst the euphoria of free speech and self-expression, Father Michael realises that Nick's very presence threatens to undermine his authority and expose St Ursula's longest and most carefully guarded secret...

Featuring an original score and lyrics by Phillip Short and an original script by Elaine Gray, Secrets is performed by students of KSA Performing Arts One Year Musical Theatre Course and is the must-see student show of the year.
