A Florentine Tragedy - Opera By Alexander Zemlinsky

The opera by Austrian composer Alexander Zemlinsky (1871 - 1942) is a psychological thriller which involves an erotic triangle of a woman, her husband and her lover. Their explosive encounter soon becomes a cat-and-mouse game, and when the tension erupts into violence, there can only be one winner.

This new production of Alexander Zemlinsky's masterpiece is sung in English and accompanied by piano.

Part of Time Zone Theatre's 'Fin de Siècle' project - a series of works composed around 1900 in new, contemporary stagings.

Following Time Zone Theatre's successful re-imagining of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera Mozart & Salieri, which was performed at the Arcola Theatre in London and other venues last year and is currently on tour, company director Pamela Schermannn and musical director Andrew Charity team up again to present their interpretation of Alexander Zemlinsky's A Florentine Tragedy this summer at the first Opera In The City Festival.
