“Ruddigore” is Gilbert and Sullivan’s 11th operatic collaboration, and, though occasionally overlooked by G&S fans, with its topsy-turvy plot, intriguing characters and beautiful music, it continues to delight audiences almost 140 years after it was first written.

This production has shaken off the standard interpretations of well-known characters and has gone right back to the text. A new piece has been created, utterly faithful to the writing, but none the less containing surprises that should appeal to both experts and virgins of G&S.

In the words of William Schwenck Gilbert, there is humour in all things. Even in a town where nobody quite understands whether they are alive or dead!
