Whale Watching Tour 2016
Iceland's Bedroom Community record label celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2016 with a new collective Whale Watching Tour that follows on from their first, critically acclaimed European edition of the WWT in 2010, which also stopped at the Barbican.
In this autumn 2016 Barbican date, Bedroom Community founder members and composers Valgeir Sigurðsson and Nico Muhly are joined by fellow Community artists Sam Amidon (vocals, fiddle, banjo and guitar), Nadia Sirota (viola), Sæunn Thorsdteinsdótti (cello), Daníel Bjarnason (composition and piano), Liam Byrne (viola da gamba) and recent signing Jodie Landau (vocals and percussion) in a set flowing undivided between Nico's restless modern compositions, Valgeir's surgical electro-acoustic pieces, and Sam's apocalyptic folk songs.
Bedroom Community was founded in 2006 as a place for like-minded artists to create and release otherwise unreleasable music and their tours are extensions of the ongoing musical exchange between these diverse artists. Disparate musical backgrounds will coexist and collide as they perform music from their respective catalogues, as well as introducing new and previously unreleased material; and all artists involved in the line-up will contribute to each other's music on stage, akin to their many studio collaborations.
Produced by the Barbican.
