Songlines Music Awards 2013 Winners' Concert: Angélique Kidjo + Lo'Jo + Dub Colossus + Mokoomba
This event takes place at Barbican Centre, which has achieved Silver Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.
Born in Benin (West Africa), Angélique Kidjo is a Grammy award-winning music recording artist deemed "Africa's premier diva" by Time Magazine. Kidjo's internationally acclaimed repertoire includes collaborations with various recording artists such as Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, Branford Marsalis, Joss Stone, and many more. Known for her dynamic and uplifting music, she also promotes education for girls in Africa through her foundation, Batonga and travels the world as a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador.

Dub Colossus fuse traditional azmari music, ethio-jazz and dub, and reggae. The original aim of Dub Colossus was to combine the golden years of Ethiopique beats and Ethiojazz with the dub reggae styles of the early 70’s groups like Abyssinians, Gladiators, Wailers and Mighty Diamonds.

Mokoomba brings audiences an electrifying blend of Afro-fusion and tantalizing traditional Tonga rhythms. The name Mokoomba stems from the deep respect that the Tonga people have for the Zambezi River and for the vibrant life that it brings to their music and culture. This exciting Tonga group from Zimbabwe certainly has a unique sound that is set to take the world music scene by storm!
