In Recital

No pianist combines both delicacy and panache like the Macedonian virtuoso Simon Trp?eski. This is a flamboyantly colourful recital from a pianist with charisma – and virtuosity – to spare.

His programme ranges from the deep poetry of Brahms’s homage to his beloved Schumann to the iron and steel of Prokofiev’s wartime Sonata. But in between come some magical surprises.

What other pianist would have thought of following Brahms with Liszt at his most exuberantly fantastical – or pairing Prokofiev’s gentle Grandmother’s Tales with a spectacular solo transcription of Mussorgsky’s dazzling orchestral phantasmagoria? But with Trpceski you can be sure of two things: playing of captivating imagination and colour, and an evening of music that adds up to infinitely more than just a wonderful noise.
