Cuban diva Omara Portuondo of Buena Vista Social Club fame, and one of the most exciting and innovative flamenco singers today, Diego el Cigala, will embark on a European tour in 2016, which stops at the Barbican on 21 July.
The tour celebrates Portuondo’s 85 years and will be a celebration of music in general, featuring highlights from the singer's vast back catalogue.
Diego el Cigala is of Spanish Gypsy descent and is known for his artistic proximity to Cuban music. He recorded his acclaimed album Lágrimas Negras with the late Cuban pianist, bandleader, composer and arranger Bebo Valdés in 2003.

Omara Portuondo (who sang with Buena Vista Social Club) and her 19 piece band, including some of the musicians from the Buena Vista Social Club film.
