This autumn, Barbican audiences will get a rare chance to hear pioneering minimalist composer Terry Riley participate in a performance of his most celebrated piece In C (1964), re-visiting last year’s successful collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra.
In the first half Terry Riley teams up with his son, guitarist Gyan Riley, in a set featuring a cross-section of Terry’s and Gyan’s work, including Mongolian Winds and the European Premiere of Terry Riley’s The Shape of Flames.
The second half features Terry Riley’s seminal In C, with the composer performing alongside the London Contemporary Orchestra – a collaboration first seen at the Barbican during last summer’s epic Station to Station programme – and very special guests.
