Ernest Ranglin And Friends
Guitarist, producer, and musical svengali, Ernest Ranglin has travelled from the formative days of Jamaican reggae and ska – with Prince Buster and Bob Marley – to immersion in the melting pot of 1960s London, playing jazz at Ronnie Scott’s, recording with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker and producing Millie Small’s hit My Boy Lollipop.
The mix continues into the 1970s and 80s, when he was playing jazz with Monty Alexander, reggae and dub with Jimmy Cliff and Lee Scratch Perry; and then to Africa to new acclaim, with Baaba Maal and many more, in a career that has taken yet more twists from the 1990s to the present day.
