Leaves - The Colour of Falling

Danish band Efterklang (Rasmus Stolberg, Casper Clausen and Mads Brauer) make a welcome return to the Barbican following sold-out concerts in 2009 (with Britten Sinfonia) and 2012 (The Piramida Concert).

In spring 2017 they will present their latest project, new explorative opera Leaves - The Colour of Falling in a concert performance setting. This new work breaks down conventions of the opera as a genre and features themes around loss of identity, loss of love and loss of life itself and has been described by the band and the co-composer Karsten Fundal as a song cycle about “a cult located beneath the ground while the earth might be experiencing its downfall above ground.

In this concert performance at the Barbican, Efterklang are joined by The Happy Hopeless Orchestra and vocalists including legendary Danish opera star Lisbeth Balslev (soprano), one of Denmark’s most promising opera talents Morten Grove Frandsen (countertenor), long-time Efterklang collaborator Katinka Fogh Vindelev (soprano) and Nicolai Elsberg (baritone).
