Diaries Of Hope: Zbigniew Preisner, Lisa Gerrard, Britten Sinfonia, Crouch End Festival Chorus
Leading Polish film composer Zbigniew Preisner conducts the Britten Sinfonia strings and Crouch End Festival Chorus in the UK premiere of Diaries of Hope – a new work inspired by the diaries and poems of Polish children who were victims of the Holocaust.
Lisa Gerrard from spellbinding duo Dead Can Dance – nominated for an Oscar for her vocals on major film Gladiator and two Golden Globes for The Insider and Ali – performs in the principal vocal role alongside boy soprano Archie Buchanan.
This event takes place at Barbican Centre, which has achieved Silver Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.
Best known for his scores for the films of Krzysztof Kieslowski (Dekalog, The Double Life Of Veronique, Three Colours Blue and more) and for Requiem for My Friend, his moving tribute to Kieslowski, Zbigniew Preisner is one of the most celebrated film composers of his generation and recipient of many accolades including a Silver Bear from the Berlin Film Festival and two Césars from the French Film Academy.

Crouch End Festival Chorus is one of the UK’s leading symphonic choirs. Based in north London, it was founded in 1984 by David Temple and John Gregson. David has remained as music director ever since, shaping the choir’s progress as it has built a fine reputation in the UK and internationally.
With some 150 singers on its books, CEFC is known for its versatility and eclectic repertoire, ranging from the traditional classical works to modern and specially commissioned pieces. The Chorus promotes its own concerts at major venues such as the Barbican Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London, while also celebrating its local roots with performances in north London.
