The dynamic young music director brings the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra south for a rare London appearance, in which Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé will provide an explosive showcase.

And there’s no question – these two landmark scores, both created for Diaghilev, show any orchestra off to stunning effect. It’s still unusual to hear the whole of Ravel’s luscious ‘choreographic symphony’; Grazinyte-Tyla performs it complete with chorus, plus – a typically imaginative Grazinyte-Tyla touch – her own selection of the Baltic folksongs that inspired Stravinsky.
