Mountains And Waves: Session Six

Britten Sinfonia conducted by Clark Rundell perform the World premiere of Wave Movements, a work for strings by Bryce Dessner and Richard Reed Parry.

Projections of Hiroshi Sugimoto’s series of Seascapes; famous photos of the sea taken from all over the world, make up the visual backdrop to the performance, with the music and images working in tandem to recreate the feeling of staring out at the ocean.

‘Every time I view the sea, I feel a calming sense of security, as if visiting my ancestral home; I embark on a voyage of seeing’ – Hiroshi Sugimoto

This concert will also feature a rare performance of Steve Reich’s seminal, and highly influential, Drumming by So Percussion and special guests, an ensemble who have made the piece their own in recent years.
