Shiraz: A Romance of India (1928)

World premiere live screening of the BFI National Archive’s latest restoration featuring a newly commissioned score composed and performed by Anoushka Shankar.

Silent film Shiraz tells the love story of the 17th century princess who inspired the construction of the Taj Mahal. Later in the year the film, which has rarely been seen in India since 1928, will be screened in Agra with the Taj Mahal forming a backdrop to the event. The screening will be accompanied by a live performance of a specially commissioned score by the Indian composer and sitar player Anoushka Shankar.
