The London Mozart Players make a welcome return visit to the Festival and are joined by the distinguished trumpeter Paul Archibald, who will breathe life into Festival Director, Geoffrey Hanson's new work for Trumpet and chamber orchestra. He is also soloist in Aaron Copland's evocative Quiet City in which he is joined by solo cor anglais player Gareth Hulse. Samuel Barber's ever popular Adagio for Strings features and the programme opens with Handel's sprightly overture to Acis and Galatea. Schubert's tuneful 5th Symphony rounds off the concert given by this long established and acclaimed chamber orchestra.
