Liverpool Music Week 2014 Closing Party: CHVRCHES + Black Lips + Nick Mulvey + EMA + Evian Christ + Sophie + Nguzunguzu + Lapsley + Bird + We Are Catchers
Liverpool Music Week is back in October 2014 for another week of fantastic music at what will be it's tenth year.
Glaswegian band Chvrches are headlining the 10th edition of Liverpool Music Week at the Closing Party, taking place in the city's Baltic Triangle.
Please visit www.liverpoolmusicweek.com/ for more information.
CHVRCHES are Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry - three distinct individuals bearing three distinct personalities on a consummate whole. Combining indie sensibilities and aesthetics with barbed pop hooks and and an unhealthy obsession with Prince, CHVRCHES take elements of classic electronica, hip hop and post-punk, and yet sound like none of the above. Their blend of classic and modern analogue synthesisers, bruised beats and crude vocal sampling comes to the fore in their debut single The Mother We Share, as it did in Lies, their first track that seeped onto the internet in mid-2012.

Formed in 2000 by a group of teenage friends, Black Lips quickly became one of the Atlanta underground’s most talked about bands. Famed for their frenzied live shows and genre-twisting style, they're one of the most exciting and electrifying bands around.

Nick Mulvey is key founding member of Portico Quartet, touring the world with them and picking up a wealth of international acclaim, including a Mercury Music Prize nomination for their debut album 'Knee-deep In The North Sea'.
Nick creates beautiful music inspired from around the world, with a particular focus on Africa and Congolese guitar styles. Drawing from a range of influences and experiences from Congolese 'soukous' and Malian blues to Flamenco and minimalism, his is a rare cross-cultural musical expression that blends both song and groove.

From the same imprint that brought us the majestic gothica of Zola Jesus, the fret alchemy of Marnie Stern, and the sultry anti-folk of CocoRosie, comes EMA. Formerly of hazy folk brigade Gowns, the North Dakotan struck out on her own with a sound that resembles Cat Power getting to grips with a seriously tricked-out vaporizer.
