Laughterhouse Comedy: Hal Cruttenden, Addy Van Der Borgh, Seymour Mace, Chris Cairns
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Following stand out performances on Live At The Apollo (BBC1), Let's Dance For Comic Relief (BBC1), The Royal Variety Performance (ITV1) and Mock The Week (BBC2), Hal is being strongly tipped as the next big thing.
Hal's comedy is simultaneously warm and catty, straight and camp - it's a lovely mix that has made him a regular guest on John Bishops's Only Joking (Sky1) and led to not one, but two sitcoms being produced this year.
'An absolute joy to watch... fabulous' (The Scotsman)
'Best solo stand-up show to date' (The Daily Telegraph)
'He had the audience eating out of his hands' (Chortle)
'On the edge of great fame' (Fest).
Hal Cruttenden tour dates
Addy van der Borgh has that rare talent of making people laugh as soon as he walks on stage. He is a great performer of highly acclaimed and original material, an ability noticed immediately by the BBC when he appeared on the Stand-up Show on BBC1 after only one year as a comedian. He has subsequently appeared on Live At The Comedy Store for Comedy Central, Live At Jongleurs and The World Stands Up for Sky TV and the BBC3 series from Baby Cow Productions, Brain Candy. He has also written and co-presented twenty episodes of TV Meltdown for Sky 1 with Kirsty Gallacher (2004 / 2005), has acted in a number of voiceovers for radio and television and has appeared on many radio shows including the legendary Loose Ends on Radio 4.
'An unassuming comic genius' (Metro)
'Brilliant natural clown' (The Daily Telegraph)
'... van der Borgh can reel off cracking gags and compete with the best freestylers such as Ross Noble' (Evening Standard)
'An excellent stand-up with intelligence and wit' (The Guardian)
Addy Van Der Borgh tour dates
Despite looking like a slightly dishevelled and demented geography lecturer, he is a brilliant comedian. He crackles with childish energy, getting caught in flights of fancy and going off on strange tangents, but never loses sight of the gag. A performer worth the admission price alone.
Edinburgh Fringe Most Promising Act Award-winner, and Citylife Comedian Of The Year 2003.
'leaves his crowd uplifted, entertained and laden with charity shop-bought gifts...Warm, original and weird' (Edinburgh Festival Guide)
'Breathtaking... a surreal performance, he had the audience in the palm of his hand from start to finish' (Evening Chronicle).
Seymour Mace tour dates
With bags of charm and a natural enthusiasm which makes him irresistible to audiences Chris may not look very quick on his feet but he more than makes up for it with his speed of thought. He has gained a reputation for being able to handle the toughest of rooms with his sharp put downs and cutting remarks in addition to being known all over the Northwest as a friend to the audience but a deadly foe to the heckler. He was also the winner of the Eric Morecambe Comedian of The Year (2002) and Liverpool Comedian of The Year (2003). Amiable, chatty. People love him. Oh, and he tells pretty funny jokes too.
