Liverpool Arab Arts Festival: Symposium Shaping Change - Women, Culture And Art

What happens when female creative aspirations breach the boundaries of cultural norms? A unique event, focusing on the multiple challenges women of Arab culture face to participate fully in the arts. Facilitated by Nazir Afzal OBE, former Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West of England, and tireless campaigner on issues relating to the rights of women.

Four key female speakers add personal, academic and professional dimensions to the discussion:

Award-winning artist Rachel Gadsden
PD. Dr. Elham Manea
Steph Green

The event will also include spoken word performances by Yemen born, Liverpool raised poet and photographer Ameena Atiq

The event is free but booking required. Please see www.thebluecoat.org.uk/events/view/events/2907 and www.arabartsfestival.com/event-detail.php?id=717#.VVnSHmZQ2GA for more information.
