Irish Liverpool

A captivating dramatization, this theatrical production will commemorate all of those who lost their lives in the Great Famine of the 1840s, taking audiences on a journey through the passages of Liverpool's Irish migration.

With an estimated three quarters of its population having Irish roots, Liverpool is widely known as the ‘real capital of Ireland’ and this poignant production will take an in depth look at the city’s rich Irish ancestry.

The evening will feature wonderfully insightful and captivating tales, all of which are historically accurate having been researched by Lovehistory who worked closely with Liverpool University History department.

Lovehistory, the city’s most animated storytellers once again bring together a team of versatile actors who bring these fascinating characters to life, all with an intriguing story to tell.

Irish immigrant woman describe their heart-breaking journey from Ireland, Liverpool merchants debate the problem of the Irish, and activists share their struggle for better living conditions for those escaping the famine that destroyed thousands of lives.

This thought provoking performance will explore how Irish migration impacted on Liverpool life and culture and how those legacies live on today.
