Fifty years ago, The Beatles took to the roof of their offices in Savile Row, London to perform a concert that would become one of the defining moments of the 1960s... 2019 sees Hip Hop Pioneers The Sugarhill Gang taking inspiration from the Fab Four as they celebrate four decades of Rappers Delight!
Recorded for their film 'Let It Be', The Beatles iconic rooftop show marked the band's final public performance, and for some, the moment the forty-two minute set ended, the swinging sixties were effectively over too. The world was changing, but The Beatles had made an irrevocable impact on popular culture.
2019 sees Hip Hop pioneers The Sugarhill Gang celebrate an equally important anniversary; Rappers Delight, the record credited with taking Rap music to a worldwide audience, was released forty years ago!
To mark the occasion, Saturday June 15th sees The Sugarhill Gang taking inspiration from fellow legends The Beatles by performing their genre-defining hits on the rooftop of Liverpool's Shankly Hotel.
