Samaris, Feral Love

Making their Liverpool debut, Icelandic trio Samaris are set to play the Leaf Café in June. On the road in support of upcoming new album Black Lights, the three-piece create ethereal, atmospheric songs that splice modern technology and folk tradition, combining laptop created soundscapes, clarinet and haunting vocals.

Signed to storied UK indie label One Little Indian also home to Bjork, Samaris decamped to Berlin to write their forthcoming album, taking inspiration from the city’s famous club scene, completing the set in Dublin and Reykjavík. While their 2013 eponymous debut LP featured lyrics derived from 19th-century Icelandic poems, Black Lights is the first Samaris release to be sung in English.
