Jean-Pierre Dassonville, Timothy Jackson, Roger Montgomery, Neil & Helen Grundy

The leading artists at the British Horn Society Festival, taking place at Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus in November 2015, are Jean-Pierre Dassonville, principal horn at Theatre Royal de La Monnaie, Brussels, whose playing caused sensation at the International Horn Society event in 2014; and Timothy Jackson, principal horn of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and a well-known composer/arranger.

A morning recital at 11:00am will feature these two principal artists together with the horns from the Hallé Orchestra.

Later, the day ends with a Gala concert at 6:00pm which will also feature Roger Montgomery, principal horn Of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and players from the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

The programme for the evening concert will include Timothy Jackson’s jazz suite from The Sound of Music and, given one of Jean-Pierre Dassonville’s claims to fame is winning the International Alphorn Competition in the Swiss town of Nendaz, the wonderful Holcombe alphorn duo of Neil and Helen Grundy will also be gracing the stage.

Who knows what may develop on the mountain tops around Liverpool (as the scenario for Donizetti’s opera Emilia di Liverpool has it).
