Kíla have played in over 30 countries in North America, Asia, Australia, Africa and Europe. Notable festivals include Glastonbury, Reading, Cambridge Folk Festival, Electric Picnic, WOMAD and The Montreux Jazz Festival. The band have also had the privilege of playing the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in Dublin and Possibilities, the event that welcomed the Dalai Lama to Ireland.

Kíla‘s eight members come from the differing musical backgrounds of trad, classical and rock. The result is a fresh blend of freewheeling instrumentals, furious jigs and primal rhythms that transcend the traditional boundaries of Irish music. Bristling with passion and energy, their nineteenth album Alive Beo is an exciting trip into the universe of a Kíla gig, with Rónán, Rossa & Colm Ó Snodaigh, Dee Armstrong, Brian Hogan, Dave Hingerty, James Mahon & Seanan Brennan. They have collaborated with many renowned artists; including recording a number 1 single The Ballad of Ronnie Drew with U2, The Dubliners, Shane MacGowan, Sinead O’Connor, Glen Hansard, The Corrs, Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey and a host of other artists with proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society. The song was later included on a U2 album of collaborations, Duals (2012).

Kíla have worked extensively in TV and film, most notably with French composer Bruno Coulais on the soundtracks for Cartoon Saloon’s animations The Secret of Kells (screened at #LIF2015) and the Oscar-nominated Song of the Sea. Kíla received an Emmy nomination in 2015 for their soundtrack to the film Ireland’s Wild River.

Playing at Liverpool’s Arts Club (Seel Street) with another international act TBA, tickets will go on sale soon and should not be missed.
