The Medals
The Medals play written by Comedian Stan Boardman (One of the last National Servicemen in 1960) tells the story of an Ex World Champion Boxer after he buys a WWII War Medal in the market whilst getting a plaque made for his sons latest trophy. Realising it has a name on the Medal, John and his son Colin decide to trace down the old soldier and his family to return this treasured heirloom to the rightful owners. They fought for their trophies in the glorious ring and wear their medals with pride but a soldier who fought a greater battle should not be without his medals.
They track the Old War Veteran and discover that the medal was in fact stolen many years earlier along with 4 others, John and Colin make a promise to the Veteran that they will get his medals back. Not an easy task but they have the ambition to win and succeed, they have a name of the thief and a whole load of determination. Along the way to finding the stolen medals they unwittingly acquire the assistance of two soldiers.
On this life changing journey they find more than just medals. This emotional rollercoaster of a play reminds us of the Sacrifice and Bravery the Armed Forces take to give us our Freedom.
