The opening item in this concert anticipates the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Beethoven in 2020, with a piece commissioned by the Brodsky Quartet some years ago from the Japanese composer Karen Tanaka. This piece features quotations from Beethoven's String Quartet No.18.
