King Lear

King Lear is ready for his retirement. He decides to hand his kingdom over to his three daughters. He tests them, asking how much they love their aged father. Two of his daughters, eager for the biggest share of the kingdom, flatter him with fawning declarations. The third and youngest speaks plainly and tells the truth. Lear flies into a rage and disowns her, but soon learns that he has made a terrible decision.

Wandering the heath in a dreadful storm, the once mighty Lear finds himself in the company of the blind, the destitute, the outcast and the mad. Unable to face his daughters’ betrayal, Lear drifts into insanity, as the nation slides into war.
