UK Pirate Radio in the 1980s is an archival display that looks back at the early tower block pirate radio movement that emerged in and around the UK during the 1980s, broadcasting new music of Afro-Caribbean origin across soul, jazz, funk and reggae, to British audiences for the first time. In exploring the cultural significance of these stations amidst the social and political climate of the UK at that time, this display investigates the impact that these stations have on radio today.
