Parade

Following previous productions of Sister Act and The Full Monty, and last year’s 9 to 5 The Musical, the Leicester Amateur Operatic Society return to Curve with the Tony award winning musical Parade by Jason Robert Brown.

Parade tells the tragic, true story of Leo Frank, a Brooklyn-born Jew living in Georgia, who is put on trial for the murder of 13 year old Mary Phagan. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him, Leo must fight to clear his name and uncover the truth. His only defenders are a governor with a conscience and eventually, his Southern wife who must find the strength and love to become his greatest champion.

Jason Robert Brown is one of the most critically acclaimed American composers of the the past 20 years. His work includes musicals such as The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World and Honeymoon in Vegas.

Daring, gritty and bold, Parade is filled with soaring music and a heart-breaking story, offering a moral lesson about the dangers of prejudice and ignorance that should not be forgotten.

Recommended for ages 14 and over.
Some scenes contain mature themes and adult content.
