Entertaining Mr Sloane
Entertaining Mr Sloane is written by one of Britain’s most notorious playwrights – Leicester’s own Joe Orton, and was his first full-length play establishing him as one of the most significant writers of stage farce in the twentieth century. This wickedly funny and sometimes violent play caused a stir when it first opened in London during the age of the sexual revolution. The play has gone on to win many awards with revivals worldwide.
It is the swinging 1960s and Mr. Sloane is looking for a place to live. Middle-aged Kath offers herself as his landlady but is also offering something else. Her younger brother Ed is also looking for some action but their elderly and inquisitive father is unfortunately in the way... This wickedly funny play established notorious Leicester-born playwright Orton as one of the most significant writers of stage farce in the twentieth century
