Chaurapanchasika
This is an evening inspired by beautiful Indian literature from the 11th Century Sanskrit Love Lyric called ‘Chaurapanchasika’ – a poem of 50 verses written by a Kashmiri poet ‘Bilhana’ about himself and the love that bloomed between him and his student Princess Amaravati which was opposed by the King and lead to the poet being imprisoned.
6 verses of this poem are to be recited through a solo dances performance by Payal Ramachandani to evokes a spectrum of ‘Rasas’, with the most dominate are ‘Sringara (love/eroticism)’ and ‘Bhayanka (fear)’ and explores the both the male and female characters within the poem.
