Soloist on the film scores of Jane Eyre (2011) and the 2013 Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA Nominated soundtrack for Anna Karenina, violinist Jack Liebeck performs at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday 17 October.

Established as one of the most compelling young violinists on the concert platform, Jack Liebeck will be joined by one of the UK’s top symphonic ensembles, The Hallé. Under the baton of distinguished guest conductor Karl-Heinz Steffens, Jack will perform Dvo?ák’s virtuosic Violin Concerto, composed in 1879.

The orchestra will also perform Rossini’s Overture: The Silken Ladder and Vaughan Williams’ A London Symphony which was dedicated to George Butterworth, a young English composer who was killed in the First World War.

Tonight’s soloist, Jack Liebeck was born in London in 1980 and has appeared with all the major British orchestras and many overseas. Jack made his acclaimed London recital debut to a sold-out Wigmore Hall in 2002 and has gone on to perform recitals all over Europe and beyond.

In 2013, Jack became the violinist of renowned Paris-based piano trio, Trio Dali. Since a hugely successful recording debut on the Quartz label in 2002, Jack has recorded two critically acclaimed discs for Sony Classical (Dvo?ák, awarded a 2010 Classical Brit Award and Brahms Sonata’s with pianist Katya Apekisheva) and has just started a new recording relationship with Hyperion Records.

Jack is professor of violin at the Royal Academy of Music and is the Artistic Director of Oxford May Music Festival.
