Sitkovetsky Piano Trio

The Sitkovetsky Trio plays Dvo?ák’s magnificent Piano Trio No. 4 in E Minor ‘Dumky’; a piece with its heart and soul in central Europe.

Rather than a typical four-movement work, the trio is in six parts, each a ‘dumka’ or melancholy folk ballad, which move from a slow, mournful beginning to a joyful, almost manic answering section. The approach of the Trio combines a dynamic, high-energy performance style with evident commitment and profundity.

The first half of the evening sees the Sitkovetsky Trio delight with Haydn’s Piano Trio in G major ‘Gypsy’ with Charles Ives’ only Piano Trio.
