Originating from a village in northern Morocco, the music of Jajouka has been described by William S. Burroughs as 'the 4,000-year-old rock ‘n’ roll band'.

Championed by artists as diverse as the Rolling Stones and Ornette Coleman, the propulsive grooves and trance-like melodies of the Attar family preserves one of the oldest known musical traditions on the planet.

'This is a living music,' says film director Jarmusch, 'and whenever I listen to its hallucinogenic properties, (I believe) that if The Master Musicians of Jajouka were to ever stop the flow of their magic, the earth might well stop rotating on its axis'.
