French pianist, composer and filmmaker Christophe Chassol plays an adaptation of his dazzling fourth album Big Sun. Dynamic and life-enhancing, his live score interweaves with the sounds, colours and voices of his film about his parents’ homeland Martinique.
Adored by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, Chassol has leapt into the greater public consciousness following performances at James Lavelle’s Meltdown and the London Jazz Festival. Often likened to Woodkid, his performance fuses visuals and rhythmic motifs into a stunning filmic/musical whole.
