A murderous con-woman, a celebrity house-breaker, a ghost in The Leeds Library and an exiled Abyssinian Prince - Leeds has played host to a whole range of extraordinary characters over the years.

It's streets and inhabitants have also been immortalised in songs and in poetry. In this collection of curious yarns and comical ballads, local storyteller Matthew Bellwood brings to light some forgotten tales from the city's gas-lit past, with a little help from shadow artist Rebekah Caputo.
