The Connection

The Connection is a modern-day take on Brief Encounter. Martina is a regular at Carnforth Station refreshment room and is obsessed with the film, which plays constantly in the station museum. When she meets Steve, there is an immediate mutual attraction, despite them both being committed to others.

Meanwhile, Steve’s wife, Amy, is conducting a flirtation online with an old boyfriend. Harmless stuff all round, or is it? And when Laura escapes from the film and begins to interfere with Martina’s plans, life gets really complicated.

Each year The Dukes spends time developing ideas with established and emerging writers. From spring 2015 we are inviting you, our audiences, into the process, to listen to the plays in development, and tell us what you think.
