Play Along Movie - Brassed Off

You've all heard of Sing-Along movies screenings so to mark the 30th anniversary of the end of the miner's strike in 1985, we're staging our first 'Play-Along' movie with a special screening of Brassed Off.

Staring Tara Fitzgerald and Ewan McGregor, the film tracks the troubles faced by a colliery brass band, through the miner's strike and the subsequent closure of their pit. The soundtrack for the original film was provided by the famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band, and the plot is indeed based on Grimethorpe's own struggles against pit closures.

The film was very positively received for its role in promoting brass bands and their music so we're calling out to all brass players to come along and join members of one of Scotland's top brass bands, The Kirkintilloch Band and local heroes, The Coalburn Silver Band to come along on the day and "Play Along" with some of the great music along with the film.
