The Dickensian Christmas Mansion

This year Tatton Park's Mansion takes its inspiration from the well loved novels of Charles Dickens.

Each of Tatton's Staterooms is individually decorated to reflect Dickens and characters from his most popular works. Enter the world of the author where books, quills, inkpots and Dickensian characters thread through the Mansion rooms amidst magnificent displays of foliage, flowers and garlands. Glimpse familiar scenes and references from favourite Dickens tales, including "A Christmas Carol", "The Christmas Tree" and "Great Expectations".

Enjoy the scent of foliage and greenery gathered from the Parkland and Gardens, and woven into garlands in the traditional Victorian fashion, just as when the Egerton family celebrated Christmas here in the 19th century.

Be entertained by live music from local performers, and on selected days be enthralled by Dickens' readings in the library.

In the Servants' Quarters the scullery maids are busy preparing Christmas delicacies, and the Cratchett family's festive table awaits. Festive decoration demonstrations offer tips and ideas to create your own at home. Please note that the upstairs of the Mansion is closed at Christmas.
