‘Shinty’s Heroes’ is a unique and special night of music, stories and visuals curated by Shinty Historian Hugh Dan MacLennan with Musical Direction from former Fort William Shinty Club and Scotland Captain Gary Innes.
With excerpts, letters, incredible visuals and sound recordings, the show follows the journey the indigenous sport has taken since the end of the 19th Century until present day.
A number of stories, recordings and visuals are taken from the First and Second World War when many Shinty players made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This had a grave effect on the Shinty playing community of Scotland and the show looks at the sport and the local villages associated with it, before going on to look at more recent stories in Shinty’s history.
Musical accompaniment will come in the shape of Shinty veteran Gary Innes and an all-star Highland line up.
Highland born accordionist Gary Innes hails from the small village of Spean Bridge and is one of the founding members of award-winning Scottish super-group Mànran.
