Kingston Carnival
Kingston Carnival is one of the highlights of the borough calendar. It is back for 2018 and Banquet is sorting the music for the later part of the main stage to close the carnival. The processions kick off at midday and the music in the market place usually about 1:30pm. A free entry, alcohol-free event in The Market Place celebrating racial equality and put together by Kingston Race & Equalities Council.
On stage just after 5:00pm, live reggae/ska comes this way through Essex's New Town Kings, infectious and feel good tunes run straight through them and out the speakers. If you're a fan of The Skints, The Specials or The Slackers then don't miss this.
On stage about 6:00pm. we're being treated to a special Sound System DJ set from the dub legends Dreadzone. Protest music through peaceful parties, Dreadzone have been doing this for a quarter of a century and it's a perfect way to close the carnival.
The day is a great party. There's multiple stages around the town, food stalls, entertainment and positive vibes. This celebration of our community is open to anyone of any age and it's totally free.
