Join us in the pub. All human life is here tonight, meeting friends; celebrating achievements; boozing. Our hosts bustle between pumps and optics, serving bitter to the regulars, tequila to the stag party and cocktails to the ladies.

Pull up a chair and drink in the jokes. Here’s Mrs Iger singing the praises of tall men (shame her husband’s only 5’5”) and there’s Maudie trying to handle Moth, who’s three sheets to the wind and eyeing up anything with a pulse.

The landlord and landlady know everything; they’re friend, psychiatrist and referee, party to every secret and struggle. But they have their own tragedy and the singing of the till can’t conceal that relations behind the bar have become as bitter as the beer.

From the writer of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice comes a vibrant celebration of the British pub and its drinkers. Two actors play all 14 colourful characters who share their tales, both hilarious and hopeless, from opening time to last orders.
