Nadia Blye, an American war reporter turned Yale professor, has seen the horror of war up close. Advising President Bush as an advocate for ‘humane intervention’ in Iraq, she’s more than used to defending her divisive opinions.

But one weekend in the Shropshire countryside she meets Oliver. He’s caustic, vehemently liberal, ferociously intelligent, an inveterate womaniser and the father of her boyfriend.
