The Karpenters

The Karpenters are a six piece live band, who take you on a nostalgic journey through the life and times of this 70's iconic artist.

The award winning Karpenters are recognised as the Number 1 Carpenters Tribute group, formed by Laurie Briggs in 2003 with the intention of being much more than just a tribute band, aiming to fully retain the integrity of Richard and Karen Carpenters music. From the smallest note, to rich backing vocals, recordings have been meticulously transcribed, re-creating the unique sound.

Laurie Briggs has performed not only on radio, TV and theatre venues in the UK, but worldwide in Dubai, China, Sydney and elsewhere. She not only has the look and mannerism of Karen, but the unmistakable sound together with costumes which makes for the most authentic and accurate Carpenter experience.

Richard Carpenter is played by John Morton an accomplished pianist and singer, who has many years’ experience on the stage and TV. The remaining members of the band have appeared at major venues and festivals in support of Laurie Briggs and other artists.

The music of Richard and Karen Carpenter has become legendary with nineteen top 10 singles and in total over 80 million records sold worldwide. They received two Grammy awards and one Oscar. The first No 1 hit was 'Close to You' and followed by such favourites as Rainy Days & Mondays, Superstar and Please Mr Postman.
