Lakme
The critically acclaimed Swansea City Opera return to Keswick with their stunning production of Lakmé. Sung in English, and accompanied by chamber orchestra, the opera is set in India during the Raj of the 1880s and captures the ambience of the Orient, as seen through Western eyes.
Like Delibes’ music for his famous ballet Coppelia, the orchestral scoring for Lakmé is enchanting. As the opera remains a relative rarity, don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear and see this beautiful piece, including the much loved ‘Flower Duet’.
There will be a pre-performance talk by the Artistic Director of Swansea City Opera, Brendan Wheatley, at 6:15pm.
