Summer School: Once Upon A Storytime
Following on from the magical Once Upon A Time exhibition at Ipswich Museum which highlighted the work of local illustrators, DanceEast Core Tutor Sarah Franklin will lead a series of creative dance workshops suitable for 4-7 year olds which explore the themes of imagination and story-telling based on the images of local illustrators Michael Foreman and Helen Oxenbury.
Week One will celebrate the work of Lowestoft-born Foreman, two-time winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal for British children's book illustration. Workshops will draw inspiration from his artwork for The World of Fairytales, Dolphin Boy, The Day the Sea, Pirates Ahoy and Beowulf.
Multiple award-winning illustrator Oxenbury is the source of inspiration for workshops taking place in week two, with sessions themed around the Ipswich-born artist's work in publications Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig, and We're Going On A Bear Hunt.
