In a new commission by DanceEast, award-winning Director and Choreographer, Arthur Pita, in collaboration with HeadSpaceDance, reimagines two earlier works to present a wickedly gruesome, darkly surreal double bill for the Halloween season.

Stepmother leads us into a menacing world where macabre folklore meets the terrifying grotesque of Hollywood. A waiflike ‘Snow White’, living as a single parent, is pursued and poisoned by her abusive stepmother, leaving her unruly brood of children to reap their revenge on the vile ‘Wicked Queen’.

Inspired by the folk punk ‘Country Death Song’ from cult American band Violent Femmes, Stepfather tells the grisly tale of a twisted situation. Spiralling into a hellish world of incest and murder, the search for redemption is ultimately played out beyond the grave.

Arthur Pita returns to DanceEast following his critically acclaimed, sell-out productions of ‘The Little Match Girl’, ‘The World’s Greatest Show’ and ‘God’s Garden’.
