In Worse Things Happen At Sea, Sam Harland describes a dissolute ascent into adulthood involving drugs, drinks and petty crime and in so doing, takes a cheerffully cynical look at the sort of 'pearls of wisdom' that pass for local knowledge and - for Sam - helped lead to the insanity in the first place.
Gecko finds former RE teacher Kevin Precious falling out with a Brighton New Age type, bemoaning a facebook request from a former associate who's doing very well (and is keen to show it) and offering a version of an old metaphysical idea by way of resolution.
